Esenin State Museum Reserve
The Esenin Memorial House-Museum opened on October 2, 1965, as a branch of Ryazan Regional History Museum and over the years has become one of the largest museums of its kind. In March 1984, the council of ministers of the RSFSR declared the creation of the Esenin State Museum Reserve, an expansion of the house museum in Konstantinovo. The new institution consisted of: the peasant farm of the Esenins; the estate of L.I. Kashina (including a manor and park); the Church of Our Lady of Kazan; the village square; a schoolhouse in Spas-Klepsky; and the surrounding nature and architecture.
The celebration in Ryazan of the 100-year anniversary of Esenin's birth became a landmark event in the cultural life of our country. The museum was reconstructed at this very time. By this date in 1995, two more museum exhibits were opened: the Museum of the Poem «Anna Snegina», and the Konstantinovo Primary School.
The Anna Snegina museum is situated in the estate house (the famous «house with a mezzanine») of the last landlady in Konstantinovo, L.I. Kashina, to whom the poet dedicated his lyrical lines. The recreated interior of the house brings visitors back to the times when Sergei Esenin visited it. The primary school in Konstantinovo, where Esenin studied in 1904-1909, was restored by the time of the poet's jubilee. The school exhibit depicts the role of regional schools in the education of peasant children.
